Wow Mother's day is literally right around the corner and if you're a bit like me you've been caught out. But not to worry I have some super easy but oh so gorgeous ideas that will put a big smile on mum's face and make her feel like the super special woman she is.
Brunch is always a good idea whether it's Mother's day or not so why not throw a beautiful brunch. Even better why not invite her best gal friends and make it a soiree to remember. This works super great because you can get extra help with the preparations.
Setting the scene
If the weather is good set up your brunch outside. A bit of table preparation goes a long way in setting your mood for the event. Think white table cloths and lots and I mean lots of bright fresh flowers. A colour scheme is a good way to start. I'm a bit of a monochrome girl myself but this table by The TomKat studio is just gorgeous.
Start with a roll of butchers paper available from Ikea for a very reasonable price and have the kids use finger paints to create this lovely pattern. If your mum is a bit more like me and she loves a bit of black and white sophistication just substitute the coloured paint for black.
If you're having a few people round or your family is a large one you may want to skip using your china and opt for paper plates. It will make cleaning up that bit more easier and you don't have to worry about the kids dropping any plates. We have a great selection here
Let's get this brunch started
As guests arrive it's always good to start with some kind of signature drink. These beautiful Lillet Rose cocktails are perfect. You can find the recipe here
Obviously a brunch isn't a brunch without some seriously delicious food. If you don't want to be getting up and down to keep serving your guests small portioned foods that can be shared is a great way to go.
Foods like these baby pancakes with fresh berries, small croissants with jams and clotted cream, mini quiches, sweet and savoury muffins, finger sandwiches filled with smoked salmon, egg salad, cumber, chicken with mayo and corriander and fresh melon cups not only look visually amazing but they are super easy too.
Finish with a beautiful cake topped with yes you guessed it more fresh flowers and a glass of champagne and you have very hard to beat Mother's day brunch that is not only easy but is guaranteed to make mum feel so very special.
